Restoration and Repairs

More often today, broken items are replaced instead of repaired. In the process, some meaningful pieces from our past can be lost as they fall out of use or are set aside.

Change is constant, and adapting is part of life—but that doesn’t mean we have to let go of what came before. There’s value in carrying forward the things, skills, and memories that connect us to earlier generations while still embracing what’s new.

Instead of discarding worn items from parents or grandparents, restoration can be a way to extend their life and meaning. At Provident Leather Co.we offer repair and restoration services to help keep those pieces in use for years to come.

Product Care

Leather is one of the oldest and most durable materials, but it still benefits from regular care. Because it comes from natural material, it responds best to simple maintenance that keeps it clean, conditioned, and protected.

  • While most leather is water resistant, prolonged moisture can dry it out and weaken it over time.
  • Leather also needs occasional conditioning to stay soft and flexible. We recommend Bickmore products.
  • For routine care, wipe with a warm damp cloth, then apply a conditioner such as Bick 4 Leather Conditioner.
  • In cases of heavy dryness or neglect, Neatsfoot Oil can help restore flexibility, but it may slightly darken the leather.
  • For fabric parts, spot clean or hand wash with mild detergent, taking care around leather edges and stitching.
  • We also offer repair services for both Provident Leather items and outside goods—feel free to reach out if something needs restoration.
